So here are two pictures of what I have been doing for the past 4-5 weeks on the weekends trying to fill my time while I am waiting on travel dates for my first trip. So as you can see I am pretty much done with Asia and Africa, I started working on South America last weekend, and also have North America to do which will not be too difficult, Australia and then Europe. Europe is going to be very difficult d/t all the tiny countries. I am learning a lot. Did you know there is a small country between France and Spain named Andorra? Not me, but I do now.
I tried to stick with primary colors, and to help save me money my very supportive neighbor Paula gave me her green paint to use. At times it is challenging to make sure the same colors are not touching, but so far so good. I have developed a plan when painting, I first label several countries with the color I am going to use, this way I can paint more then one country at a time. I also like to paint all the yellow ones first b/c yellow is easier to cover up then say red. This has seemed to help really speed things along. Also I have been comparing my map to google maps so I can make sure I am not missing anything important. So occasionally I am drawing in countries free hand.
As I have said previously I am so excited for Maks to see his room. While I am painting I imagine sitting with Maks and talking about the different countries, where he is from, and where we should plan our next trip so we can mark it on his map. If I ever move, I think I am going to have to cut out the wall and take it with me. Well I am really looking forward to my first trip, when it comes.
